Evert time I visit, we play basketball and their dream is to visit the United States to watch Lebron or Steph Curry.\u00a0 So when I invited a few of them to come visit me in Salt Lake City, I planned a sweet itinerary that included snowmobiling, Yellowstone, a Jazz game, a Lakers game, and a gun range.<\/p>\n<p>As if they hadn\u2019t read the amazing planning or noticed the strings I pulled to pack all these events into a single trip, the first question they asked was \u201cWill we have time to shop at the outlet stores?\u201d\u00a0 As it turns out, Covid ravaged the world and all their flights were cancelled and I was stuck going to the Jazz game and snowmobiling with my business partners instead. We were all disappointed!<\/p>\n<p>I have never compared our local Park City Outlet shops to the outlets pages on Amazon. But guess what, the outlets are awesome and effective at helping you both clear out old or slow-moving inventory while improving your sale rank for eligible ASINs.<\/p>\n<p>Your shopping behaviors may be different than mine \u2013 I like to get in get out with the item I\u2019ve already researched. There are no additional fees for using Outlet \u2013 yay! Standard fulfillment and referral fees are still applied, however. To find out which of your ASINs are eligible for outlet deals, you can review them in the \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sellercentral.amazon.com\/inventoryplanning\/excess-inventory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manage Excess Inventory<\/a>\u00a0tool and create deals to be featured on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/b\/?node=517808\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Outlet page<\/a>\u00a0once approved by Amazon.\u00a0 The Outlet store doesn\u2019t allow you to choose just any ASIN you want to promote, but the ones Amazon deems are a good fit to help your inventory sell-through. Since you\u2019re already discounting you should make sure you don\u2019t accidentally have a coupon and an outlet deal running at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>There are two different types of outlet titles. An \u201cOutlet Deal\u201d is a product that is marked down at least 30% and will be advertised for two weeks starting on the next deal cycle. An \u201cOutlet Sale\u201d is a discount lower than 30% and has a lower priority than the Outlet Deals. Don\u2019t forget that Bezos loves low prices more than my Chinese factory owners love watching the NBA!<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that the Outlet section of Amazon is not the same as the \u201cAmazon Warehouse Deals.\u201d They don\u2019t sell used or refurbished items in the Outlets. These are all new and fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) sold by 3<sup>rd<\/sup> parry sellers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-837cf42 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"837cf42\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-70b37a7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"70b37a7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Random Case Study<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3316f44 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3316f44\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>For a case study example, I clicked into page two of the sports and outdoors section of the Outlet pages and chose a random product to see if Outlets has helped. Seems like most of the listing I\u2019ve seen are between 35% and 50% off. I was also curious how the deals are promoted outside of the Outlet pages and what a normal search result looks like when a consumer runs into that listing. To my surprise it came up with a red box advertisement that said \u201cLimited time deal.\u201d This made sense since the outlet deals are promoted for two-week period. I like that the red promo box grabs consumers\u2019 attention as you can see here:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-700ef16 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"700ef16\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/revstep.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/elementor\/thumbs\/Picture65-p5rfv0wlczhchl7lrcdilhwbvt6kv68gni4fxf4n8g.png\" title=\"Picture65\" alt=\"Picture65\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa30c1b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fa30c1b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>So how are sales going since the jump rope started the Outlet deal? From the chart below, it looks like as soon as they were listed on the Outlet page with the new $6.50 price point, their sales rank dropped to around 18,000 down from 80,0000 \u2013 a drastic improvement! You should also keep tabs on those nasty short and long term storage fees (LTSF) that can add up on your portfolio\u2019s sleepy products.<\/p>\n<p>If your products qualify, you might want to experiment with this program to raise your keyword ranking or to re-launch a once-awesome selling item.
